BREAKING NEWS!
FIFTH HARMONY x CAMILA CABELLO FALLOUT
The past 48 hours have been a whirlpool of drama for Harmonizers around the world! Late Sunday night the official Fifth Harmony Twitter account announced that after nearly 5 years Camila Cabello had decided to leave the girl group to pursue a solo career. This sparked a lot of controversy due to the claim that the girls were notified via Cabello's representatives which rather impersonal for such a close group of girls. The remaining 4 girls did also announce that they plan to continue with Fifth Harmony while also working on their own solo endeavours.
Then late Monday morning Cabello released her own statement via Instagram saying that her and the girls have had many "long conversations" about her wanting to leave the group and claiming they have known she was planning to leave Saturday since mid-November. She goes on to say that the claim that girls were "simply informed by [her] representatives is simply not true" sparking even more drama. Shortly after Cabello's statement, audio footage leaked of what appears to be Lauren Jauregui venting to Ally Hernandez about the workload the groups mangegement team places on them. This prompted the #FreeFifthHarmony to trend on Twitter of fans blaming the groups mangement team for Cabello's exit and the tension between the girls during this time.
Late Monday night the Fifth Harmony Twitter posted another statement in response to Cabello's statement admitting that the girls have known about Cabello's exit since November but insist they were informed via her manager. The group also states that over the past
year since Cabello's first solo endeavour they have attempted to mend their relationship with her and get everyone back on board through meetings with label head LA Reid and group counseling sessions in which Cabello's allegedly never showed. The statement was also posted on each of the 4 girl's individual social media accounts.
The split comes nearly a week after Cabello's solo project with rapper Machine Gun Kelly "Bad Things" entered the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also follows the release of Jauregui's first solo endeavour with Marian Hill "Back to Me" and a run in with the law involving marijuana possession. The announcement came mere hours after the girls final performance with Cabello's in Miami, FL.
Update: Throughout Monday unreleased songs the group has recorded over the past two years began leaking online including the song "Ladder" which can be played below.
